Finally the main dish for the night arrived.

Crab. The biggest one I have seen with my naked eyes.

This dish took the most time to prepare and I knew that it was worth the wait.

The crab cooked in a orange colored gravy made of coconut.

Again it reminded me of the way my Mom prepares Crabs.

Though the gravy was a bit spicey but the taste was amazing.

Along with the crab we had ordered rice, amazing combo.

Finally after having the rice I decided to have my share of the Crab. The claw was in my plate. See photo above.

The claw was huge. I have eaten crabs in the past, by breaking it with my teeth. But this one seemed impossible.

I had to take the services of the plier to break it to have it. The claw was meaty and I loved it.

Worth the wait I should say. Cost wise  Rs. 550.

Next on our list was Rawas Fry.

The waiter introduced it as baby Rawas. If you go by the size of it, it didnt look like a baby.

The Rawas was soft and tender on the inside and the masala it was marinated in was superb. The Rawas had a burnt taste on the outside. But it was worth it. The taste, ab mein kya bolo, finger licking good.

   

Though the masala tasted very similar to the one that the Surmai Tawa Fry was marinated in.

Anywhich ways it was good and chunky.

Damages for Baby Rawas is Rs.550.

Today I was at Andheri Fish Market near Andheri Railway station in the west,  buying fish when I noticed this bird.

I couldn't stop myself from clicking their snaps with the fisherwomen around trying to figure why.

One of them told me that they have been around for the last 15 odd years or longer,  but I was the first to photograph.

The birds make a quick move on the fish,  when the fisherwomen ain't watching.

 My good friend Alexander, had informed me that this place serves good Tibetan and Chinese food. I have had Chinese food before but not Tibetan and so was eager to visit this place. 

As I had never been here before. I asked around and Michael decided to join me in my food exploration.

The this is a small place located at Adarsh Nagar on the Oshiwara Link Road.

It was 12:10 on my watch when we entered the premises, we were the first ones here.

As we were not familiar with the dishes here, we took the help of the waiter. We wanted to have rice with a little gravy in it and so he recommended us the Danzine -De. We immediately placed an order for the same. 

In a matter of 20 minutes lunch was served.

The rice was served in an earthern pot. The earthern pot helped keep the food hot in the air conditioned environment. 

We enjoyed the food, it was liquidy mix consisting of rice, cabbage, capsicum , chicken and various herbs tosed in various sauces. The food was tasty.  

I liked the three sauses that accompanied the food, each of them were spicy. Looks like Tibetans like their food hot and spicy.

We had little space left in our stomachs and so we decided to order another dish. Again the waiter helped us reach a decision. We ordered Pork Momos.

The Pork Momos were just awesome. The Pork meat was deeply fried in Pork fat and then was wrapped in the momos. We had ordered the steamed version of it. This dish is also avaialble in Pan Fried and Deep Fried version.

The billing for two dishes came ot Rs. 290. One dish can serve two.

Good food for a good price is all that I have to say.

  

Parrots on a Wire

I was sitting near the windowsill, when all of a sudden I noticed these two parrots sitting or should I say balancing themselves on this wire. The wire runs from  12th storey of my building to the 3rd storey of the neighbouring building. Had this amazing snap taken from my Panasonic Lumix TZ 11

Gilbert Hill in Mumbai (Andheri W)

Gilbert Hill is located in Andheri (W) closeby to Andheri Railway Station and Bhavan's College.


I was enjoying the view from the 9^th floor of my brother’s flat in Andheri (West) when I espied in the distance an interesting rock formation surrounded by buildings all around. I googled the same (Thank God for Google maps) and got to know that the rock formation goes by the name of Gilbert Hill.

Gilbert Hill is 197 feet tall and is made up of black basalt rock. Its vertical face was formed when the molten lava was squeezed out from its clefts. It has been around for nearly 65 million years. Quite some time now.

Another structure of the same type is located in USA and is called Devil’s Tower.

I asked Shailesh, a friend of mine who is not keen on going on outdoor trips. So I wanted him to accompany me on an easy trip. I asked him to join me on a visit to this structure. We boarded a BEST bus to Gilbert Hill from Andheri station, bus no. 250. From there we decided to walk to the base of the fort.

The staircase which leads to the top of the fort has been newly built and is very steep. Shailesh was quite tired on the upward climb. Finally we reached the top. There are two Hindu temples and a small garden in the fort. The hill offers a panoramic view of suburban Mumbai.

I was surprised to see that there is a structure like this in my backyard. Unfortunately, the land around the area has been taken over by the builder community and the area is seeing a lot of construction. I was not happy to see that new buildings blossoming around in the area.

It took us around 30 minutes to see it. Later we decided to descend and head home.
